Then you’ll partner with a master-level clinician and a case manager who will walk with you every step of the way. As you work towards sustainable sobriety, you’ll develop the life skills you need to tackle stress, triggers, and relapse.
You don’t have to go it alone. The path to recovery starts with a single step: calling our addiction treatment center at 855.298.3104.

Medically Monitored Detox
Detox is often the first step on the road to recovery. This is when the body clears the substance you’ve been using from your system. It can be an uncomfortable period, as you’ll start to feel withdrawal symptoms. These can include:
- Anxiety
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Headaches
- Muscle aches and pains
- Irritability
- Fatigue
Our skilled team will customize your detox program to make your experience as safe and as comfortable as possible. And our medically trained staff will always be available. Medications can be used to manage withdrawal symptoms, and our team will work with you to create a tapering schedule that’s right for you.
Clinically Managed Inpatient Drug Rehab
After completing a detox program and building a foundation for sobriety, you might begin an inpatient rehab program. In this residential program, you will live at the treatment facility and receive 24-hour care. Living at Washburn House helps keep the distractions of work and home life from interrupting your path to recovery. During your stay, you will attend at least 10 hours of group therapy and 15 hours of group psychoeducation per week. In addition to group therapy, our inpatient drug rehab program includes three one-on-one therapy sessions each week.
We offer a comfortable residence that serves as a home away from home while you focus on your recovery. Private rooms are available, and men and women are housed in separate wings. Residents also have access to spaces like activity rooms, a 3D theater, and a common area with games.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
If you have graduated from inpatient drug rehab or have a sober living situation at home, our day treatment program (partial hospitalization) may be right for you. During this outpatient treatment program, you will not live at Washburn House, but you will attend up to six hours of group therapy five days a week in our center. Our partial hospitalization program includes one-on-one counseling and group counseling. Some participants may be prescribed medication to help with recovery, but it will be combined with behavioral therapy.
This level of care provides a transition between inpatient drug rehab and traditional outpatient care. It’s also a great option for those who have completed an inpatient program and are not quite ready to return to their daily lives.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
After completing a PHP or other inpatient treatment program or while living in recovery at home, you may choose to continue your journey in our intensive outpatient program. Despite its name, intensive outpatient drug and alcohol treatment is less intensive than our partial hospitalization program. You will only be asked to attend about three hours of group sessions at our intensive outpatient rehab center in Worcester, Massachusetts at least three days per week. Individual treatment is still available with this outpatient program, so you can stay focused on your personal recovery plan.
We believe you should have a choice in how you recover. That’s why we offer several specialized classes through our addiction treatment programs. The classes that are currently available are:
- Yoga
- Cooking
- Painting
- Poetry
- Book club
- Journaling
- Music therapy
- Building healthy relationships
- Making a budget
- Identifying your triggers of addiction relapse
Extended Care Addiction Treatment
Washburn House offers an extended care program at our specially designed center, 1398. This structured sober living home offers a safe and supportive environment for those who need more time to transition into independent living.
1398 is more than just a supportive place to live. Our extended care program also helps residents find employment, build healthy relationships, and maintain active involvement in the recovery community.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Dual diagnosis treatment is designed for those who are struggling with a mental health disorder in addition to their substance use. Some of the most common co-occurring mental health conditions include:
Depression
Anxiety
Bipolar Disorder
Schizophrenia
PTSD
Specialized dual diagnosis programs provide targeted support and maximize the benefits of behavioral therapy for each individual. Many people with a dual diagnosis benefit from medication to manage their symptoms and prevent relapse. Mental health conditions can complicate recovery, as many of those who struggle with substance use disorders also turn to drugs or alcohol to self-medicate.
Washburn House is proud to offer dual diagnosis treatment services to help our residents achieve long-term sobriety and mental wellness.
Addictions We Treat
Every individual in our care is unique, from their history of substance use to the mental health conditions that may be present. One aspect of our approach to addiction treatment that sets Washburn House apart is the way we treat different addictions. Treatment for opioid use disorder, for example, is not the same as treatment for addiction to alcohol or benzodiazepines. That’s why we offer several specialized programs, including:
- Alcohol addiction treatment
- Heroin addiction treatment
- Marijuana addiction treatment
- Cocaine addiction treatment
- Opioid addiction treatment
- Meth addiction treatment
- Benzo addiction treatment
